Tour Guide Uses Waymo Self-Driving Taxis for Sightseeing Tours ππ€

When Waymo launched its self-driving taxi service to all users in San Francisco in 2024, tour guide Dara Maheili incorporated it into her tourist business, according to the San Francisco Chronicle.
Between FebβAug 2025, 10 βWaymo toursβ were booked.
Tourists rode autonomous vehicles to attractions like Alamo Square and the Golden Gate Bridge.
A 3-hour tour with three rides cost $149.
Due to demand, Maheili expanded the service to Los Angeles, where Waymo also operates.
However, on August 18, 2025, Waymo notified Maheili that the service violated terms of use. She and her partner promptly removed the offering from their website but hope to collaborate with Waymo in the future.
Waymo noted in a March 2025 report that tourists increasingly use their vehicles as part of sightseeing itineraries, signaling growing interest in autonomous tourism experiences.
