DeFi Risks Highlighted: CoW DAO Cites Infrastructure Failures in $50M Loss
-

The massive loss on Aave also exposed weaknesses in CoW Swap’s infrastructure. According to CoW DAO, an outdated gas limit on a solver blocked better-priced quotes, while another solver failed to submit a cheaper transaction on-chain.
Combined with a potential mempool leak, these issues left the user with no choice but a severely unfavorable trade. CoW DAO and Aave stressed that they are investigating the incident fully and working with the community to improve DeFi safety.
This event underscores the persistent risks in decentralized finance, even when platforms provide warnings, and highlights the need for additional safeguards to protect users from high-impact trade failures and MEV exploits.

This is exactly why DeFi still isn’t “safe” by default.
-
MEV and mempool leaks are still a huge problem.

“Decentralized” doesn’t mean protected.

-
Infrastructure bugs hit harder than price volatility sometimes.
-
Need better safeguards before real mass adoption.
-
DeFi is powerful… but still very unforgiving.
