Charlie Lee Warns of Quantum Risk to Satoshi’s Bitcoins
-

Charlie Lee cautioned that the estimated 1.1 million BTC in Satoshi Nakamoto’s wallets could be vulnerable to future quantum-computing attacks.
Early Bitcoin addresses use the older Pay-to-Public-Key (P2PK) format, exposing the coins if quantum computers ever break current encryption. Lee said that if Satoshi is no longer accessible, those coins could become a “free-for-all,” posing both a technical and governance dilemma for the Bitcoin network.
