Most Bitcoin Already Safe From Quantum Threat, New Research Finds
-

A new report from Ark Invest and crypto financial firm Unchained suggests that a large portion of Bitcoin’s supply is already protected from potential quantum computing threats. According to their analysis, about 65.4% of all Bitcoin is currently safe, while roughly 34.6% could theoretically be vulnerable if quantum computers ever become powerful enough to break Bitcoin’s cryptography.
The researchers note that quantum computers capable of breaking Bitcoin’s encryption would need thousands of logical qubits and extremely advanced performance levels that are still years—if not decades—away. Because of this, the report describes quantum computing as a long-term risk rather than an immediate danger, giving developers and the crypto community time to prepare solutions that could secure the remaining Bitcoin supply.
