Mixed Reception and Low Sales Preceded Ballistic Moon’s Closure
-

The shutdown of Ballistic Moon follows a difficult launch for its remake of Until Dawn. Despite visual upgrades and a new third-person camera system, the game received mixed reviews, landing around a 69 score on OpenCritic and drawing criticism for losing some of the atmospheric tension that defined the original.
Sales also struggled, with player numbers reportedly falling below those of the short-lived shooter Concord during its first week on PlayStation 5. Combined with layoffs in 2024 and failed funding discussions with Sony, the studio gradually wound down operations, leaving the future of the Until Dawn game franchise uncertain.
