Electric Air Taxi Companies Get Market Boost After FAA Pilot Approval
-

Shares of several electric aircraft companies surged after the Federal Aviation Administration approved a nationwide testing program for next-generation aviation technology. Firms such as Beta Technologies, Archer Aviation, and Joby Aviation saw stock gains as investors reacted to the faster path toward real-world operations.
The testing initiative will allow these companies to demonstrate their electric vertical takeoff and landing (eVTOL) aircraft in real scenarios, including urban air taxi routes and regional connections. Archer is already preparing its four-passenger Midnight aircraft for potential air taxi operations during the 2028 Summer Olympics, a milestone that could mark one of the first large-scale uses of electric air taxis.
