Thailand Expands Campaign Against Crypto Mule Accounts
-

Thailand is ramping up its fight against financial crime in the digital asset sector through closer cooperation between regulators, exchanges, and law enforcement. In 2025 alone, crypto operators in the country froze 47,692 suspected mule accounts, reflecting growing efforts to disrupt money-laundering networks tied to scams and illegal transactions.
Authorities including the Bank of Thailand and the Thailand Securities and Exchange Commission are also strengthening data-sharing rules between banks and crypto platforms. The measures are part of a broader campaign targeting “gray money,” which includes stricter enforcement of the Travel Rule to track sender and recipient information in digital asset transfers.
