Marvel Rivals Rolls Out Anti-Throwing Measures and Victim Compensation
-

NetEase Games announced on March 7, 2026, upgrades to Marvel Rivals’ ranked match systems to combat intentional match throwing. The new server-wide detection system combines data analysis and manual review to catch players who sabotage matches by going AFK or otherwise undermining their team.
As part of these measures, Marvel Rivals is introducing the Victim Compensation Protocol: players who lose ranking points due to a teammate throwing a match will have their points restored once a thrower is confirmed. Notifications will be sent via in-game mail. While the exact penalties for throwers haven’t been fully detailed, NetEase emphasized stricter enforcement to protect competitive integrity.
Community reporting has also shifted. The fan site Intlist has transitioned from a paid bounty platform to a free reporting tool focused on transparency, with unclaimed bounties refunded.
These updates coincide with Marvel Rivals’ 2026 “Path to Doomsday” roadmap, featuring new modes and events inspired by The Avengers, culminating in a December tie-in with Avengers: Doomsday. Players and fans hope these improvements will reduce disruptive behavior, though effectiveness will rely on continued reporting and feedback.
