Nvidia Signals End of OpenAI and Anthropic Investments Ahead of IPOs
-

At the Morgan Stanley Technology, Media and Telecom conference in San Francisco, Jensen Huang revealed that Nvidia’s recent investments in OpenAI and Anthropic are likely to be its last. Huang suggested that once both AI firms go public — as expected later this year — the window for these kinds of strategic investments effectively closes. Nvidia has already poured tens of billions into the companies, including a reported $30 billion stake in OpenAI’s latest funding round.
Officially, Nvidia maintains that its investments are about strengthening its AI ecosystem rather than maximizing financial upside. Given that Nvidia already profits enormously from selling the chips that power both OpenAI and Anthropic’s models, it may not need deeper equity exposure. Still, the timing has raised eyebrows, especially as both companies head toward anticipated IPOs.
