God of War: Sons of Sparta now lets players access its co-op roguelite mode, The Pit of Agonies, without finishing the campaign first — thanks to a newly revealed cheat code.

After confusion at launch over when the advertised two-player option becomes available, Santa Monica Studio shared a classic-style input sequence that unlocks the mode instantly from the start menu:

Up, Up, Down, Down, Left, Right, Left, Right, L1, R1, Touchpad

Originally, The Pit was locked behind story completion to ensure players understood combat mechanics before tackling its brutal arena-based challenges. But following backlash, the studio opted to provide direct access while still recommending players get comfortable with the game’s systems first. The unlock only needs to be entered once and remains active after restarting the game.
