Xbox February 2026 Update Boosts Cloud Gaming to 1440p and Enhances PC Experience
-

A new February 2026 system update is now rolling out across the Xbox ecosystem, bringing major improvements to consoles, PC, and supported handheld devices. The highlight of the patch is upgraded Xbox Cloud Gaming streaming on consoles, which now supports up to 1440p resolution with a higher video bitrate for Xbox Game Pass Ultimate members. Available on Xbox Series X and Series S and select older models, the upgrade promises sharper image quality, reduced compression artifacts, and smoother overall performance — provided users have a strong and stable internet connection.
On PC, the update focuses on polish and usability within the Xbox app. Players can now enable optional controller navigation sounds for more tactile menu feedback, view a numerical battery percentage in Game Bar, and take advantage of improved library filtering options. Meanwhile, owners of the ROG Xbox Ally and Ally X gain new features such as an Advanced Shader Delivery Indicator to reduce first-boot stutter and easier microSD formatting directly through the app. Altogether, the update reflects Microsoft’s continued push to refine cloud performance, handheld compatibility, and the overall Xbox user experience in 2026.
