Pakistan’s Freelance Economy Surges
-

Pakistan’s freelancers have earned over $557 million in foreign exchange in just the first half of this fiscal year—a 58% increase from last year. With an estimated 2.37 million participants, the country’s young, English-speaking workforce is making its mark globally in software development, digital marketing, design, and e-commerce management.
This growth reflects better broadband access, targeted training, regulatory reforms, and incentives like retaining export earnings in foreign currency accounts. Freelancing is no longer just a side hustle—it’s becoming a meaningful contributor to Pakistan’s services exports.
