Global data-center energy demand is accelerating fast. A December 2025 report from BloombergNEF projects electricity consumption from data centers could nearly triple by 2035. Meanwhile, Goldman Sachs estimates data-center power demand may surge 175% by 2030 compared to 2023 levels.

Much of the strain isn’t about generating electricity — it’s about converting it efficiently. Inside AI data centers, high-voltage power must be stepped down thousands of times before reaching GPUs, wasting roughly 15–20% of energy in the process.
