Senators Urge Treasury to Probe Trump-Linked Crypto Deal

Two US senators are calling for a federal review of a foreign investment tied to the Trump family’s crypto venture.

In a letter to Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent, Senators Elizabeth Warren and Andy Kim asked whether the Committee on Foreign Investment in the United States (CFIUS) should investigate a reported $500 million deal involving World Liberty Financial.

The transaction would reportedly give a UAE-backed investment vehicle a 49% stake — making it the company’s largest known outside shareholder. Lawmakers are demanding a “comprehensive, thorough, and unbiased investigation” over potential national security risks.
