SBF Argues Key Witness Testimony Could Change FTX Verdict
-

In his motion for a new trial, Bankman-Fried claims testimony from former FTX executives Daniel Chapsky and Ryan Salame could challenge the government’s narrative about the company’s financial health before its collapse in November 2022. Neither executive testified during the trial. Salame previously pleaded guilty to campaign finance and fraud-related charges and is serving a seven-and-a-half-year sentence.
Bankman-Fried also requested that a different judge review the motion, alleging that trial judge Lewis Kaplan demonstrated “manifest prejudice” by limiting certain defense arguments. While his legal team continues to fight the conviction, the FTX bankruptcy estate has been moving forward with creditor repayments, distributing billions of dollars in 2025 as part of a phased recovery process for affected customers.
