TON Pay Is Betting on Mini Apps as Crypto’s Onboarding Layer

TON Pay isn’t trying to win payments everywhere at once. It’s starting where Telegram already has traction: Mini Apps.

By giving developers a single SDK that handles wallets, settlement, and checkout, the TON Foundation is aiming to turn Mini Apps into fully functional crypto storefronts. Subscriptions, gasless transactions, and local off-ramps are already on the roadmap.

The strategy is clear: refine the in-app experience first, then expand outward. If onchain commerce feels native inside Telegram, users won’t need to “learn crypto” — they’ll just use it.

That’s a very different adoption playbook from most payment rails.
