Argentine Crypto Scam Suspect Arrested in Venezuela

Rosa María González — a key suspect in the Generación Zoe crypto scam that defrauded tens of thousands of investors of at least $120 million — has been arrested by Venezuelan authorities in San Cristóbal, Táchira after four years on the run.

She allegedly fled Argentina with 611 Bitcoin (about $56 million) after the scheme collapsed in 2022, and was reportedly planning a new fraudulent project while in Venezuela.

Her arrest comes nearly a year after Generación Zoe leader Leonardo Cositorto was jailed for 12 years in Argentina.
