Crypto ATMs in Wyoming are being used by fraudsters to steal millions. Victims are convinced to deposit cash into crypto accounts, which scammers then move through dozens of wallets — often across countries — making recovery nearly impossible.

In Gillette alone, $3M has been lost, while statewide losses exceed $4.6M. Police warn that older adults are especially vulnerable, and once the money is in a crypto wallet, it’s gone for good. New legislation is being considered to limit transaction sizes and add warnings on ATMs.
