Startale and SBI Launch Strium, a New Layer-1 Blockchain for Institutional Trading
-

Startale Group and Japan’s financial conglomerate SBI Holdings have launched Strium, a layer-1 blockchain designed to power exchange-layer and settlement infrastructure for institutional trading. The platform targets foreign exchange, tokenized equities, and real-world assets (RWAs), positioning itself at the intersection of traditional finance and onchain markets.
Strium is built as an exchange-layer network, enabling compliant dividend and royalty payments across tokenized instruments. Startale CEO Sota Watanabe said equities tokenization is becoming inevitable and represents the next major growth area for digital assets.
The launch marks the first major milestone since the two firms announced their strategic partnership in August 2025 and is supported by proof-of-concept demonstrations validating the platform’s core technology.
