ClawdBot creator rejects crypto after identity hijacking

Peter Steinberger, creator of the open-source AI assistant ClawdBot, has publicly disavowed any connection to cryptocurrency after scammers hijacked his online identity to promote fake token projects. Steinberger said he has never issued or endorsed a token and will not accept any fees tied to crypto.

The issue followed ClawdBot’s rebrand to Moltbot, which Steinberger said was forced by trademark concerns raised by Anthropic. During the transition, bad actors reportedly seized his former social media and GitHub handles, using them to falsely claim his involvement in meme coin launches.
