US authorities probe alleged theft of seized cryptocurrency
-

US authorities have confirmed that an investigation is underway into claims that more than $40 million in seized cryptocurrency was stolen from wallets managed under a federal asset protection program. A spokesperson for the US Marshals Service said the matter is under investigation but declined to provide further details.
The probe follows allegations that John Daghita, the son of the president of Command Services & Support (CMDSS), gained unauthorized access to wallets holding government-seized digital assets. CMDSS was awarded a contract in 2024 to assist with the custody of confiscated cryptocurrency.
