Google deepens AI push in Indian education

Google is broadening its AI education strategy in India by expanding JEE preparation tools beyond Gemini to AI Mode in Search, including Canvas, which lets students create study guides and interactive quizzes from their own notes. The company says its AI tools already support subjects from advanced physics to general STEM topics and are available in multiple Indian languages.

Beyond students, Google is partnering with Indian government agencies and universities to bring AI into teaching and administration. Initiatives include an AI-enabled state university pilot and an ₹850 million ($10 million) Google.org grant to integrate AI into public education platforms, with a goal of reaching 75 million students by 2027.
