From $300M peak to shutdown — Nifty Gateway’s rise and fall
-

Launched in 2020, Nifty Gateway helped bring NFTs to a mainstream audience by allowing users to buy digital collectibles with credit cards, lowering the barrier to entry during the early days of the market.
The platform became known for curated drops from high-profile artists such as Beeple and Grimes and facilitated more than $300 million in sales at the peak of the NFT boom in mid-2021. That momentum faded as the broader market cooled.
In April 2024, Nifty Gateway stepped away from its traditional marketplace model and rebranded as Nifty Gateway Studio, shifting its focus toward onchain creative projects and brand partnerships before ultimately announcing its closure.
