Hackers Demand Ransom After Alleged Theft of 50,000 Waltio User Records
-

A hacker group known as Shiny Hunters reportedly demanded a ransom from crypto tax firm Waltio after gaining access to personal data from roughly 50,000 users, according to French media outlet Le Parisien. Most of the affected users are believed to be based in France.
The stolen information allegedly includes personal identifiers that could be used to target crypto holders directly. French officials have warned that such breaches increase the risk of fraud, extortion, and impersonation attempts aimed at forcing victims to move their digital assets.
Authorities are investigating both the breach and the hackers’ demands.
