Democrats Call for a Fully Staffed CFTC First

Another amendment, introduced by Senator Amy Klobuchar, would delay the bill’s rollout until the Commodity Futures Trading Commission has all of its commissioner seats filled. Currently, the agency is operating under Chair Michael Selig alone, after he was sworn in late last year.
Supporters of the amendment argue that implementing sweeping crypto rules without a fully staffed regulator could weaken enforcement. At present, there is no clear timeline for when the remaining four CFTC commissioner positions will be filled, raising concerns about regulatory readiness.
