Ubisoft Cancels Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time Remake
-

Ubisoft has officially canceled the long-awaited Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time remake, originally announced in 2020. The project faced a rocky development path, including delays, studio changes from Ubisoft Mumbai to Ubisoft Montreal, and repeated release date shifts.
On Twitter, Ubisoft acknowledged fan disappointment, stating the game had “real potential” but the team wasn’t able to reach the level of quality players deserve. The publisher added that continuing development would have required more time and investment than feasible.
Despite the cancellation, Ubisoft says the Prince of Persia franchise remains important, though the company will now focus more on open-world and live-service titles. The move comes after other setbacks for the series, including the rejection of a sequel to Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown. Fans hoping for a revival of this classic franchise will have to wait even longer.
