Ubisoft Focuses on Creative Houses Amid Studio and Game Cuts
-

As part of its restructuring, Ubisoft is consolidating its studios into five autonomous “creative houses,” each managing different franchise types, including flagship series, cooperative shooters, fantasy, narrative-driven, and family-friendly games. Vantage Studios will oversee major franchises like Assassin’s Creed, Far Cry, and Rainbow Six, aiming to turn them into annual billion-dollar brands.
The company also confirmed multiple layoffs, studio closures, and delays, with at least six games canceled and seven others postponed. Ubisoft’s CFO Frédérick Duguet emphasized that the restructuring is part of a strategy to return to robust cash flow within three years, even as the company reported mixed financial performance and increased in-office requirements for staff.
