Ubisoft Restructures, Plans Studio Closures and Game Cancellations
-

Ubisoft announced a major company overhaul, planning to close several studios over the next three years as it pivots toward five “creative houses” focused on key franchises. CEO Yves Guillemot said the changes are “difficult but necessary” to build a more efficient and sustainable organization.
The restructuring also includes canceling six games in active development, most notably the highly anticipated Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time remake, along with four unannounced projects, including three new IPs and a mobile game. Recent layoffs and studio closures—Massive, RedLynx, and Abu Dhabi among them—highlight the human impact of Ubisoft’s strategy.
