DOJ Confirms Samourai Bitcoin Was Not Sold
-

A White House crypto advisor has confirmed that no Bitcoin seized in the Samourai Wallet case was liquidated, easing fears about unauthorized government sales. Patrick Witt, executive director of the President’s Council of Advisors for Digital Assets, said the US Department of Justice verified that the forfeited Bitcoin remains intact and will stay in the Strategic Bitcoin Reserve.
The clarification follows rumors sparked in November after blockchain analysts observed a 57.5 BTC transfer from a government-controlled address to a Coinbase Prime deposit wallet. Critics accused authorities of violating an executive order signed by Donald Trump that explicitly bars the sale of forfeited Bitcoin, requiring it to be held as part of the national reserve.
