Shutdown Could Disrupt Major Crypto Scam Infrastructure
-

Analysts say the refunds may significantly disrupt phishing and “pig butchering” scams that previously operated at scale through Tudou Guarantee’s marketplace model. Such scams have inflicted massive losses on victims, including a recent case in which an investor lost their entire Bitcoin retirement fund in an AI-driven romance scam. In 2025 alone, phishing caused over $722 million in losses, according to CertiK.
The platform had already been under scrutiny after Elliptic linked it to thousands of wallets and roughly $89 billion in crypto tied to fraud. Originally known as Huione Guarantee, the service was rebranded after being exposed in 2024, and its apparent shutdown may represent a rare but meaningful blow to large-scale crypto fraud infrastructure.
