Zcash Development Team Breaks Away to Form New Company

The entire team behind the Electric Coin Company (ECC) has officially split from Bootstrap, the nonprofit established to support Zcash. CEO Josh Swihart said the decision followed growing misalignment with several Bootstrap board members, which ultimately made it impossible for the team to continue its work under existing conditions.

Swihart emphasized that the departure was driven by governance concerns rather than a change in vision. The team now plans to form a new company, maintaining the same mission it has pursued for years: building private, censorship-resistant digital money.
