BlueCruise Evolves Toward Eyes-Off Driving by 2028
-

Alongside its AI announcement, Ford teased a next-generation version of its BlueCruise platform. The updated system is expected to be 30% cheaper to manufacture while offering more advanced capabilities, including a path toward eyes-off driving by 2028—though drivers will still need to remain ready to take control.
The new BlueCruise will debut in 2027 on Ford’s first EV built on its low-cost Universal Electric Vehicle platform, reportedly a mid-sized pickup. Ford says the system will eventually support point-to-point autonomy, placing it in direct competition with similar offerings from Tesla and Rivian, as automakers race to redefine how humans and vehicles share control.
