Later in 2026, Ethereum’s Glamsterdam hard fork is expected to push scalability even further. The upgrade would allow the gas limit to increase incrementally up to 200 million and introduce “perfect parallel processing” through Ethereum Improvement Proposal-7928.
This change would transform Ethereum from a single-lane transaction processor into a multi-lane system using Block Access Lists. If successful, Glamsterdam could dramatically increase transaction throughput, marking one of the most ambitious scaling upgrades in Ethereum’s history.
