Ethereum Takes Another Step Toward Massive Scalability in 2026
-

Ethereum implemented its second Blob Parameter-Only (BPO) hard fork on Wednesday, increasing the blob limit per block from 15 to 21. Activated at 1:01:11 UTC, the upgrade improves Ethereum’s data throughput by allowing rollups to batch more transactions, reinforcing Ethereum’s roadmap toward higher scalability in 2026.More importantly, the blob target was raised from 10 to 14, a key metric developers monitor to avoid overwhelming node bandwidth and storage. With each blob carrying 128 kilobytes of data, Ethereum can now process up to 2,688 KB per block, significantly expanding capacity without destabilizing the network.
