Crypto Hack Losses Fell 60% in December — But Risks Remain
-

PeckShield reported that total losses from crypto hacks and cybersecurity exploits dropped to about $76 million in December, marking a sharp 60% decline from November’s $194.2 million. The firm identified 26 major incidents during the month, suggesting a slowdown in large-scale thefts as market activity cooled.
Despite the improvement, the data shows that attackers remain active and highly targeted. A single address poisoning scam accounted for a $50 million loss, while another user lost roughly $27.3 million due to a private key leak tied to a compromised multi-signature wallet.
