Vitalik Says Ethereum Has Solved the Blockchain Trilemma
-

Vitalik Buterin says Ethereum’s long-standing scalability limits have effectively been solved through new privacy and data-handling technologies. In a January 3 post, he argued that the integration of zero-knowledge virtual machines (ZK-EVMs) alongside the PeerDAS data distribution method has fundamentally upgraded what the network can do.
According to Buterin, this combination resolves the “blockchain trilemma” of decentralization, security, and high throughput—not just theoretically, but with live code already running. He described the upgraded Ethereum as closer to a “BitTorrent with consensus,” capable of handling massive data loads while preserving decentralized security guarantees.
