India Forces X to Rein In Grok After Obscene AI Content Complaints
-

India has ordered X, owned by Elon Musk, to make immediate technical and procedural changes to its AI chatbot Grok after users flagged the generation of obscene and sexualized content. The directive includes strict limits on nudity, sexualization, and other unlawful material produced using the tool.
The Indian IT ministry gave X 72 hours to submit an action-taken report outlining how it will prevent further dissemination of prohibited content. Officials warned that failure to comply could jeopardize the platform’s legal immunity under Indian law, significantly increasing its exposure to civil and criminal liability.
