Trust Wallet Enters Verification Phase After Extension Hack
-

Trust Wallet has moved into a verification phase following a targeted Christmas Day exploit involving its browser extension. While the company has identified 2,596 wallet addresses linked to the compromised extension, it has received nearly 5,000 reimbursement claims, raising concerns about false or duplicate submissions.
CEO Eowyn Chen said the company is prioritizing accurate verification of wallet ownership before issuing refunds. According to Chen, Trust Wallet is combining multiple data points to distinguish legitimate victims from malicious actors, signaling a shift from estimating losses to managing the operational challenge of compensation.
The company has emphasized that accuracy will take precedence over speed as the investigation continues.
