MiCA Compliance Deadline Sparks Urgency for Crypto Firms in Lithuania
-

The Bank of Lithuania has given crypto service providers a final warning: obtain MiCA authorization before the year ends or face serious consequences. Only about 30 of roughly 370 registered firms have applied for licenses so far, creating a high-risk environment for unlicensed operations.
Enforcement will not only target active platforms but also registered entities maintaining websites, accounts, or custody services. The crackdown underscores Lithuania’s goal to serve as a strict MiCA-compliant gateway rather than a permissive crypto hub, signaling the EU’s shift from regulatory theory to actionable oversight.
