Lithuania to Enforce Strict Crypto Rules Starting January 1
-

Lithuania is set to implement one of Europe’s toughest crypto crackdowns next week. The central bank has warned that any unlicensed digital asset firm continuing operations after December 31 will be considered illegal.
Hundreds of companies are at risk, with fines, website blocks, and even prison sentences of up to four years possible for violations. While over 370 firms are registered in Lithuania, fewer than 10% have applied for MiCA licenses, leaving most exposed to enforcement. Authorities are urging non-compliant firms to communicate orderly shutdowns to their clients to protect investor assets.
