CZ Calls for Wallet-Level Defenses to Stop Address Poisoning Scams
-

Binance co-founder Changpeng Zhao has proposed new security measures aimed at “eradicating” address poisoning, a fast-growing crypto phishing tactic. In a blog post, Zhao argued that wallets should automatically detect and block known poison addresses using simple blockchain queries.
He also suggested filtering out low-value spam transactions entirely, preventing users from accidentally copying malicious addresses from their transaction history. Address poisoning works by sending small transactions to victims, tricking them into later sending funds to the wrong wallet.
Zhao’s comments come amid rising losses from phishing scams across the crypto ecosystem.
