Meta to Challenge Italian Ruling

Meta called Italy’s decision “fundamentally flawed,” arguing WhatsApp’s Business API isn’t a route to market for AI companies. The company stated the API wasn’t designed for distributing general-purpose AI chatbots and that other channels like app stores and websites remain available.

Meanwhile, the European Commission has launched its own probe into the policy, citing potential restrictions on third-party AI services across the EEA. Meta plans to appeal the ruling.
