AWS Outages Exposed Crypto’s Infrastructure Weakness

In 2025, multiple AWS outages disrupted major crypto platforms — including Binance, Coinbase, KuCoin, MetaMask, and Robinhood.

Withdrawals were paused. Users couldn’t log in. Entire platforms slowed or went offline.

The irony is hard to ignore: many “decentralized” crypto apps still rely on centralized cloud infrastructure. When AWS goes down, Web3 goes down with it — proving decentralization hasn’t reached the infrastructure layer yet.
