Xbox Developer Direct Returns in January 2026

Microsoft has confirmed that another Xbox Developer Direct will take place in January 2026, marking the first Xbox games showcase of the year. The annual event will once again spotlight upcoming Xbox titles that are nearing release, continuing a format Microsoft has used consistently since 2023.

Xbox Game Studios head Matt Booty said the company now has “more stuff coming up than we can fit into one Dev Direct show,” signaling a packed 2026 release slate. Playground Games has already been confirmed as one of the featured studios, hinting that fans could see new updates on Forza Horizon 6, Fable, or potentially both.
