Google is adding advanced Gemini AI to Translate, improving how idioms, slang, and nuanced expressions are translated. For example, phrases like “stealing my thunder” will now capture meaning, not literal words.

The update also expands language-learning tools to 20 new countries, offering progress tracking, feedback, and practice opportunities for learners of English, German, Mandarin, and more, giving Duolingo a run for its money.
