Charles Hoskinson: Quantum Threats to Crypto Are ‘Overstated’ for Now
-

Cardano founder Charles Hoskinson says the crypto industry is exaggerating the immediacy of quantum threats. Speaking on a recent podcast, he called quantum fears “a big red herring,” arguing that while blockchains can migrate to quantum-resistant systems, the technology is far too slow and inefficient today.
Quantum-secure protocols run at about 10× the cost and 10× lower speed, he noted — a trade-off that no major network will accept prematurely. Hoskinson believes real urgency will only emerge once military-grade quantum benchmarks show credible, measurable breakthroughs. -
Agree—quantum fear is mostly overblown at this stage.
