Post-quantum standards are now in place, and major infrastructure players like Cloudflare have already integrated PQ key exchange — but blockchains face unique challenges. Hoskinson says switching too early would slow networks, raise fees, and fragment developer ecosystems, even though quantum-safe design already exists.
The transition will hinge on hardware acceleration, cost reductions, and competitive pressure. Most experts expect the major shift to land sometime in the next decade. As Hoskinson put it: “Most smart people think there’s a strong possibility we’ll have something in the 2030s.”
