December Is No Longer a Dead Zone: A Packed Month of Indie and AAA Releases
-

Once the quietest period in gaming, December has transformed into a surprisingly stacked month, offering players everything from psychological horror to long-awaited sequels. This year brings a lineup dominated by inventive indie projects—with only a single big-publisher title in the mix—making it one of the most budget-friendly holiday gaming calendars in years.
Players can dive into Marvel Cosmic Invasion, a retro-inspired beat-’em-up launching December 1, or test their nerves in Horses, a controversial and unsettling horror title landing December 2 outside of Steam. Horror fans also get Sleep Awake, a stylized nightmare from Blumhouse Games, while Nintendo loyalists receive their long-awaited gift: Metroid Prime 4: Beyond, returning after nearly 20 years on December 4. Add in Square Enix’s Octopath Traveler 0 and the surreal skateboarding art game Skate Story, and December 2025 looks anything but slow. -
