The move to bring entertainment IP onchain is gathering pace across the industry. Animoca Brands and Ibex Japan recently launched a Web3 entertainment fund to tokenize Japan’s vast anime and manga catalog, while PIP Labs’ Story Protocol is emerging as a major force in onchain IP infrastructure.
Story Protocol allows creators to tokenize content, encode usage rights and maintain control over derivative works. The project raised $80 million in a Series B led by a16z Crypto and Polychain in 2024.
