Uber & WeRide Launch First Fully Driverless Robotaxis Outside the US and China

Uber and WeRide have officially launched fully driverless robotaxi services in Abu Dhabi — marking the first driverless AV deployment outside the U.S. or China.
After a year of testing with safety operators, the service is now completely autonomous, starting on Yas Island, home of the F1 Grand Prix circuit.

Riders selecting UberX, Comfort, or the Autonomous option may be matched with a WeRide robotaxi. This milestone follows WeRide securing a UAE federal permit for fully driverless commercial operations. More locations in Abu Dhabi’s city center are coming soon.
